Overview
Gratien Meyer has been producing fine, traditional method, sparkling wines in the Loire Valley for over 150 years. The Gratien Meyer estate maintains its historic legacy while embracing modern innovations.
Heritage
Gratien Meyer’s story began in 1864 when Alfred Gratien established his cellars in the ancient tuffeau tunnels of Saumur. The business flourished after Gratien partnered with Jean-Albert Meyer, an Alsatian winemaker's son, leading to the formation of Gratien & Meyer in 1886 following Gratien's death.
Winemaking
At Gratien Meyer, we collaborate closely with our sister House, Alfred Gratien in Champagne, to share over 150 years of expertise in Traditional Method winemaking. This commitment to excellence is reinforced by the strict standards of the Crémant appellation, which include hand-harvesting and limited extraction and dosage, ensuring superior craftsmanship in every bottle.
