Overview

Today Laura, Fabrizio's daughter, continues what her father, thanks to her grandfather Aldo, started, by transforming longstanding tradition with pride and tenacity. Because the future passes right through here: from what was built yesterday for a better tomorrow. It was 1961 when Aldo Bianchi, Fabrizio's father, fell deeply in love with Castello di Monsanto and purchased it. With his wife Giuliana at his side, moved by the passion for wine passed down from his mother and the amazement he felt while tasting some of the bottles found in the cellar, he managed to bring life Castello Monsanto.

Heritage

The Monsanto winery is owned by the Bianchi family. Father, Fabrizio and daughter, Laura manage the Winery today. Each wine label depicts the painting of the original Castello di Monsanto property. The original canvas was found at the estate by Fabrizio Bianchi and is an ode to the land and estate. This canvas remains on display at the winery.

Winemaking

In 1962, Bianchi created Il Poggio, the first single-vineyard Chianti Classico Riserva, and made the bold decision to eliminate white grape varieties from his Chianti blend in 1968. The estate now spans 500 acres, with 175 acres of vineyards predominantly planted with Sangiovese, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, all situated at elevations between 800 and 1,000 feet above sea level.
